weekly recap #one

Weekly recap #eins

Inhalt

Week for week a lot happens behind the scenes at wavesnbackpack but even with Instagram Stories and other updates a lot isn’t seen by everybody. So why not becoming a bit more personal. Especially during our trip it might be interesting what we are up to, what we experienced and which learnings we’ve made. Everything just a tiny bit more intimate – for this we now initiate our weekly blog post series weekly recap. Here you can dive deeper into our travels every Sunday. Just very brief. Where are we? What flashed us totally and what’s the plan for the upcoming days.

More about all that starting from nooow!

 PLACES SEEN THIS WEEK

Cologne, Singapore & Yangon (Myanmar/Birma)

FAVORITES OF THE LAST

Favorite Moment

Ani: sitting in the plane to Yangon. Extremely excited about what comes next!

Julian: Sunset at Gardens by the Bay, Singapore

wavesnbackpack

Favorite Location

Definitely the food market (hawker market) in Chinatown, Singapore. Everything ver basic but extremely authentic and good. Small booths invite you to enjoy some Wantán, noodles and co.

Favorite Accommodation

Backpacker Hostel, Yangon

Small and cute, everybody’s friendly and you feel like home from the first moment.

Favorite Food

Myanmar, Pansuriya

The pretty hip Restaurant in Yangon center could also be in Berlin. Completely paradox as the life on the street is so different. While entering it we were irritated and expected everything but that. Once in there, you don’t wanna leave anymore. Incredible food, incredibly affordable and everybody is unbelievable friendly. From our side a clear: Yes!

CHALLENGES OF THE WEEK

As we didn’t look a lot into the stops of our trip before we left, the biggest challenge this week was to define the first stops of our travel route. While doing so we also stumbled upon some visa problems (let’s call them hiccups). Our bad 🙂

SONG OF THE WEEK

Not really a song but we want to announce a band of the week. Drumroll… Abba!

We are unsure if it’s related to Chinese New Year but we heard it literally everywhere in Chinatown. If we liked it or not.

PLAN FOR THE NEXT

Keep

Wanderlust

Let go

City hectic (Yes, we really want to jump in the ocean!)

Add

The sea!

Consider

Drink more! Especially when we do not have a daily routine we tend to drink too little.

DAILY GRATITUDE

In comparison to Singapore and especially to Myanmar we can be really happy for having a well-functioning medical system. These things you tend to forget fast as we all consider them as normal. But they are not. If we are in the need of a treatment we always get one. On top of that at least a decent one. After our first little “cultural shock” we thought twice and are very thankful for that.

UPCOMING WORK PROJECTS

Finish a guest post for Prime Surfing. Here we will share tips about traveling and surfing in Mexico.

Just followed by that will be a blog post from a friend about the Philippines. This post will be extremely detailed, that’s why it took, unfortunately too long.

Now we really want to get active on our Instagram channel again. It’s worth popping by.

Thanks for having us and see you next week, when we share our weekly recap #2 with you!

So far, have a fabulous week!

Ani & Julian
