Yala National Park or Uda Walawe

While traveling in Sri Lanka at least one National Park needs to be on your bucket list. As the tear-drop island has some to offer a lot of tourists coming to Sri Lanka are unsure which one to visit. The following blog post will describe some experiences and facts on Yala National Park and Uda Walawe, Yala’s little brother.

First off, both are amazing but not as easy to reach as Kandy, Colombo or Hikkaduwa as no train is going. Sri Lankans know that an increasing number of tourists are coming every year, thus bus connections get better and better. Some busses are crowded, but for an hour or two it’s fairly ok to travel. And hey, you will see at least a couple of elephants, which is a nice treat.

Tuk-Tuk Sri Lanka

Driving Tuk-Tuk in Sri Lanka

Once you have arrived in Asia, you will see a lot (!) of Tuk Tuk’s. Also in Sri Lanka, the three-wheeled taxis are commonly used and you will see and hear them everywhere. As soon as you step out of the airport, you stroll through markets or you just try to cross the street, locals will try to pick you up by inviting you with a (sometimes friendly) “Tuk Tuk?” or “transport?”. Driving Tuk Tuk in Sri Lanka is fun and here you will get some advice to travel safe and cheap.

As promised: easy!

1️⃣ Buy a camera you like – it hasn’t automatically be the most expensive. I figured out that I like point and shoot cameras and bought a second hand one for around 120€. A great side effect, leads to point two, if your cameras isn’t too expensive…

2️⃣ Always carry it around – Ani pointing the water bottle at me usually isn’t something I would take a photo of. But as I had the camera in my hand and liked the angle, I hit the shutter button. It turned out to be one of my favourite pictures. Speaking of angles…

3️⃣ Angles change everything – Play around with the angles. Either buy a cheap film or just take multiple pictures with your digital camera to test the differences. Put a quick thought into the angle and then… click!

🙋🏼‍♀️ … We currently plan our next trip to skip a little of the German winter. We are clear about the start in March - Fuerteventura as a base for work and surf. 🌵

But then… Tenerife? Azores? Or a long-distance flight finally again? To somewhere in Africa? Costa Rica?

What do you think? Any ideas? 💡

🌴Spicy food, tuktuks, swimming with turtles …

SRI LANKA is incredible! We’ve been twice, recommended it to friends and everybody loved it. 🇱🇰

The best places depend on what you like most as Sri Lanka has everything. Highlands with incredibly breath-taking mountains, safaris, or surf beaches.

We recommend taking the train as often as possible. It’s convenient and a beautiful way to join society.
